Arisu and his two friends, Karube (right) and Chota (left) are messing around in their city Shibuya, Japan until they start to see mysterious fireworks in the sky. They hide in a public restroom and come out to see everyone had disappeared and they are now in the twisted version of their city called the borderlands. They quickly find out that this is life or death and they will need to play these horrifying games in order to survive.

Season 2 is a continuation of season 1 where Arisu and Usagi will have to face the citizens of the borderlands that created the face cards. The face card games are way more challenging and difficult than any other games Arisu and his allies had faced. This season is filled with emotion, sacrifices, death, stress and much more.

Season 3 takes place 3 years after the finale of season 2.  Arisu and Usagi and married and both now have jobs. Arisu is working as a therapist and Usagi works a sports apperal store. Until one day while Arisu is working, Usagi decides to revisit the hotel resort known as the beach and is met with a school professor named Ryuji. Ryuji takes Usagi and drugs her, making her heart stop. Which means she is back in the borderlands with Ryuji. Arisu soon finds out and askes Ann to help him get back into the borderlands to save Usagi. In the borderlands, the games are more challenging, and Arisu, now regaining his memories of the borderlands, has to help out the other partipants in the games and needs to bring Usagi back to the real world.
