NEW! Free Meals Extended Through School Year
The USDA Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) that we are currently operating to feed our students and community children has been extended for the entire school year. Children will continue to receive free meals for all seven days of the week through the last day of school. The serving schedule remains as is until further notice. Refer to the Child Nutrition Services page on the district website for further information.
New! 2019-20SY 30 Day Grace Period Extended Until Further Notice
The 30 Day Grace Period for 2019-20 free/reduced-price eligibility was set to expire tonight. A communication from USDA this afternoon has paused that expiration until further notice. OSPI-CNS is working to get answers for next steps and downstream impacts. Even though we are serving meals free to all children currently with SFSP, many programs still utilize our NSLP/SBP Free/Reduced-price eligibility data. By operating the SFSP, fewer people are submitting free/reduced-priced benefit applications and therefore sparking a lot of discussion around implications. This decision is in response to those related concerns. We are still being told to encourage households to apply for 2020-21 free/reduced-price benefits.
