Biomedical Engineering

Do you like hands-on learning? Problem solving?
Consider Biomedical Engineering
It's fun and for everyone

Biomedical engineering is the application of engineering principles and design concepts to medicine and biology for healthcare purposes. This field seeks to propel medicine into the future by combining the design and problem solving skills of engineering with medical and biological sciences to advance healthcare.

The focus of the coursework in biomedical engineering centers around problem solving through hands-on, project-based learning. This often involves working in small teams to develop solutions to specific problems.

During the first year of Biomedical Engineering students will learn and solve problems about:

  • Computer coding

  • Bioethics

  • Circuits and electronics repair

  • Personalized healthcare technologies, such as lab-on-a-chip

  • Drug delivery systems beyond pills and injections

  • Diagnostic imaging techniques such as MRI and ultrasound

  • Prosthetic design

  • Basic 3D design
