Social Media Guidelines
Evergreen Public Schools values open, two-way conversations. Our official school district and individual school Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts provide a window to the happenings, events and items of importance for our community as we share and celebrate relevant news and interact in a respectful manner.
These accounts are administered by staff at Evergreen Public Schools and are not monitored 24/7. If you’re a student in crisis, please call 911. In general, we update and monitor social media accounts throughout the school workday--from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. At times, information may be posted before and after these times to communicate about emerging, or emergency, issues or to respond to urgent inquiries from members of the public.
We want to engage in open conversations that are appropriate, and ask that comments to posts are respectful of our school district community and are consistent with our Nondiscrimination Policy. Individuals who do not follow the guidelines below will have their posts hidden, removed, and/or be blocked from the sites.
We ask that you:
Use civility, respect, and appropriate language (no profanity) when posting and sending messages; and
Ensure that comments are related to the subject/topic of a post.
We reserve the right to delete or hide comments that:
Are spam or advertising;
Are off-topic;
Would cause the district to reasonably forecast a substantial disruption to the educational process ;
Are defamatory, profane, obscene, or libelous;
Are discriminatory, or harassing of protected persons;
Advocate illegal activity, contain true threats, or incite violence;
Advocate for ballot propositions or candidates for public office;
Promote non school district services, products or political organizations/campaigns;
Infringe on copyrights or trademarks or otherwise contain proprietary information;
Include confidential or protected student (you should assume that information about students is protected by federal law); or
Violate any Evergreen Public Schools policies/procedures.
Per public records laws, comments and messages on, or to school district social media accounts, could be included in a public records request.
When posting information, you are responsible and liable for what you post. Evergreen Public Schools assumes no responsibility or liability for your posts.
