Scholarships

As scholarships become available, I will post a link to the application on this page as well as have paper copies in the Guidance Office Scholarship Center.  This list is by no means exhaustive.  I simply pass on ones that I receive information about. 

**For Parents interested in receiving scholarship update emails that the seniors receive, email Mrs. Mountan and ask to be added to the email group.   

**When completing scholarship applications, make sure to use a personal email address NOT your school email due to security restrictions.

Community Foundation for the Alleghenies - A local data base for scholarships from around our area.  Varied deadlines. 

Pennsylvania American Legion Scholarships - multiple opportunities with various deadline.  Essay contest, Oratorical contest, scholarships, endowments and summer camp opportunities.  

Big Future Scholarship - Open to Juniors and Seniors. Must have a College Board account, complete one or more qualifying steps on BigFuture, they'll be automatically entered into drawings for $500 or $40,000 

Mount Aloysius FUTURE HEROS Scholarship - A $24,000 scholarship to all incoming nursing students from Pennsylvania starting in Fall 2021. The scholarship covers the associate RN degree program or the final two years of the BSN program at Mount Aloysius. 

Woodlands Owners of the Southern Alleghanies - A $1000 scholarship for a student interested in wildlife or forestry.  Due Sept 28th to be mailed by Guidance Office.

Coca-Cola Scholarship - online application, due by 5PM October 2nd

Heisman High School Scholarship  - senior athletes.  Deadline - Oct 17th 

Voice of Democracy Patriotic Audio Essay Competition.  Due to the Guidance Office by Oct 27th.  Grand prize = $30,000. Paper applications available in Guidance Office.

PSADA/NIAAA Student Athlete Scholar Essay Scholarship - due Oct 31st , Applicant must have participated in two sports for at least two years in each sport and earned at least one varsity letter in each of two sports

Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarship - online application, due Nov. 13th

Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship - due Nov 16th

Fleet Reserve Essay Contest - Deadline Nov. 21st to be mailed by the Guidance Office.  Deadline is so early due to Thanksgiving Break.

SchoolHouse Connection National Scholarship-for students who have experienced homelessness in the past 6 years. Deadline-Nov. 24th

Western Pennsylvania Golf Association - Deadline Nov 30th

National Honor Society Scholarship - due Nov 30th, must be a NHS member in good standing

PA American Legion Oratorical Scholarship - Deadline December 3rd to Everett Legion Post

Central PA Chapter of the Women’s Transportation Seminar Scholarship Program  - Deadline Dec. 8, female applicants only, see website for college majors that are eligible.  

Burger King Scholars Program - Deadline Dec. 15, you do NOT need to be employed by Burger King

PA American Legion Annual Essay Contest - First Deadline January 9th to local Legion.  Due to Guidance Office by January 5th if mailed by us.

Charlie Feath Memorial Scholarship - son or daughter of a PSEA member who works for a school district located in Bedford, Cambria, or Somerset County who plans to major in Education....Deadline to be mailed Guidance Office Jan. 25th

The USDA/1890 National Scholars Program - will provide full tuition, employment, employee benefits, fees, books, and room and board each year for up to 4 years to selected students pursuing a bachelor's degree at select universities for select majors designated by USDA.  Deadline Jan 31st. 

Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarship - Application opens Nov 1, 2020 - Jan 31, 2023

PIAA District 5 Athletic Directors Association Scholarship Program - due to Mr. McCahan by Jan 31.  Must have at least 1 varsity letter in a PIAA recognized sport and a 3.0+ GPA

Everett American Legion Post #8 Scholarship - must be submitted online by 3PM Feb. 23.

The Breezewood Lions Club Scholarship - must be submitted online by 3PM Feb. 23, must live in East Providence Township

Hermine Solt Student Scholarship - Due to Guidance Office by Feb. 26, for students planning a career in certain Business majors.  

Bedford Rural Electric Cooperative, INC Scholarship - Due to Guidance Office by Feb. 27, must receive electric service from Bedford REC.

Lalitta Nash McKaig Scholarship - deadline is Feb 29, 3pm to be submitted online.  

PSECU Scholarship - Student must be a PSECU member, scholarship deadline 11:45pm Feb 29

First Commonwealth Bank Scholarship - deadline March 1, 5pm

Breezewood VFW Post #8333 Scholarship - Must be submitted online by 3PM March 1.

The Thomas G. Waltman Memorial Scholarship - must be submitted online by 3PM March 1, must be a participant in a varsity sport. 

The Clayton Clark Memorial Scholarship - must be submitted online by 3PM March 1st, preference for insurance, business, Information Technology and Computer Science majors.

The Hagen Scholarship - need-based merit scholarship designed to help high-achieving students from small towns. Deadline - March 1st

Bedford Grange Mutual Scholarship - Deadline March 8, children of Bedford Grange Mutual Insurance Company policy holders.

Bailey Family Football Matters Scholarship - Deadline March 8, currently enrolled in a Southern Alleghenies Football Coaches Association and member of the HS football team.

Mr. Jodon Educational Scholarship  - Deadline March 8, Provides a scholarship for students in Bedford, Cambria, Indiana, Somerset, or Westmoreland counties who will be pursuing a post-secondary degree in education. 

McCready Family Scholarship - Deadline March 8, Provides a scholarship award to a high school graduate from Cambria, Somerset, or Bedford County who plans to pursue an academic degree relating to communications, journalism, or English at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.

Everett Lions Club Community Service Award - must be submitted online by 3PM March 8th

Teeter Group Foundation Scholarship - deadline March 8th to Guidance Office.  For business majors. 

Cove Adoptive Families Scholarship Foundation - deadline March 8th to Guidance Office, student must be adopted.

Maxwell Transportation Scholarship - must be submitted online by 3PM March 8th.   For education majors, preference may be given to students planning to work with students with disabilities.  

Blair Gastroenterology Associates "Guts and Glory" Scholarship - deadline to be mailed by Guidance Office, March 8th.  Student or someone in student's immediate family with Crohns or Colitis.

The Velma Crawford Defibaugh Social Science Scholarship - must be submitted online by 3:00PM March 13, preference (not requirement) given to students planning on majoring in social sciences or humanities (History, economics, political sciences, english, etc)

Horatio Alger Undergraduate Scholarships - due March 15, Targeted scholarships open to HS Seniors.  National scholarships open to HS JUNIORS with financial need ($55,000 or less adjusted gross family income)

Pennsylvania School Board Association Scholarships: Due by 5PM March 15th

Weaver's Sanitation/Breezewood Transfer Station, LLC scholarship - must be submitted online by 3:00PM March 15

Everett Area Education Association (EAEA Scholarship) - must be submitted online by 3:00PM March 15, for Education majors.

Horatio Alger Undergraduate Scholarships - due NOON on March 15, Targeted scholarships open to HS Seniors.  National scholarships open to HS JUNIORS with financial need ($55,000 or less adjusted gross family income)

Western PA Trial Lawyers Association President's Scholarship - You do NOT need to be pursing a law degree.  Deadline to Guidance Office is March 18. EAHS committee will then select 1 essay to be EAHS's submission and will submit it by the 22nd deadline.    This scholarship should not be duplicated by any other entity other than EAHS students. The Rod Ramsey Memorial Scholarship/R&N Tire - must be submitted online by 3PM March 22

The Pearl F. Born Scholarship - must be submitted online by 3PM March 22, for education majors.

Bedford Business and Professional Women Scholarship - deadline March 25 due to Guidance Office to mail, for female residents of Bedford County.

Southampton Historical Society Scholarship - due to Guidance Office by 3:00pm March 25th (due to Easter Break). Must be a resident of Southampton Township 

Thomas Automotive Technician Training Scholarship - Deadline to turn in to Guidance Office March 26th, Interest in Automotive with GPA of 2.5+ , on the job training.

Everett Elementary Educators Scholarship - Education majors, must be submitted online by March 27th at 3PM

Everett Wrestling Boosters Association Scholarship - deadline to be turned in to Jessica Grove at Everett Elementary is March 29th.  Completed applications and supporting documents can be emailed to her at jgrove@everettasd.org.

Dr. Roy D. Hoffman Scholarship - deadline March 30

Mary Alice (Hall) Mock Memorial History Award Scholarship Fund - Research project included and student must first pre-register with the Bedford County Historical Society.  Managed through https://cfalleghenies.org/   Deadline March 31st. 

Memorial Hospital of Bedford County Foundation Health Professions Scholarships (UPMC) - March 31st deadline, must request transcript by March 27th.  Students may apply online through the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies. They may apply for both the Health Professions (AKA, Dr. Bert & Lucile Wiley, John “Jack” and Elizabeth Blackburn, Mary Pearl Hunt, and William and Sherry Obert) and the Thomas E. Bailey scholarships by submitting one application. Specific guidelines are outlined for each scholarship on the website.

The Health Professions Scholarship Program, (aka, Dr. Bert & Lucile Wiley, Mary Pearl Hunt, Obert, and Blackburn scholarships), disburses up to $8000 per year per student up to four years ($32,000) towards a career in the healthcare field. Program guidelines include students must be residents of Bedford County (one year minimum) and accepted into a health careers program. Students must commit to work at UPMC Bedford for a period of three years if a scholarship is awarded. The scholarships include a component tied to financial need. Pre-medical programs are not eligible.

 

The Thomas E. Bailey Scholarship is a one-time $4000 scholarship available only to high school seniors who attend a Bedford County high school and plan to obtain a four-year degree in health care. This scholarship is awarded with no employment commitment and is not based on financial need. Pre-medical programs are eligible.

Sweat 4 Vets Scholarship - has a family member who is a Veteran. Must submit via email by April 1st.

Jeff Onstead Memorial Scholarship - Health care field, deadline April 4th to be emailed by Guidance Office

Bloody Run Social Club - Home of the Improved Order of the Redmen Wambic Tribe #507 Scholarship - due to Guidance Office April 5th

Pennsylvania House of Representatives Scholarship Fund - 4-year scholarships, online application deadline April 15

Fred R. Stonesifer Scholarship Fund - 4 year scholarship, Preference will be given to students who plan to enroll in a four-year degree program with emphasis on math and science, online application must be submitted by 3PM April 17.

Sandy Run Landfill Scholarship - deadline is April 23 to be mailed by Guidance Office.

Bedford Lodge No. 320 of Free and Accepted Masons Scholarship Application - deadline to be mailed by Guidance Office is April 25th. Applicant must be the child or grandchild of a member of one of the lodges of Free and Accepted Masons in Bedford County (Bedford, Everett, or Hyndman).

Pennsylvania Rural Electric Association Scholarship in Memory of William F. Matson - if mailed by us, due to Guidance Office by April 26th,  for children of members or employees of PA electric cooperatives

Pennsylvania Rural Electric Association - Jody Loudenslager Scholarship - if mailed by us, due to Guidance Office by April 26th, for student representatives that attended the REA Youth Tour.   

Paul E Price Memorial Scholarship - must be submitted to the email listed on application by April 30th. Pursuing any degree or certification in a healthcare or medical profession field, including IT, business support in healthcare. **the deadline says April 30, 2023, but that date is still accurate for this current year....April 30, 2024**

Western Maryland Health System Auxiliary Scholarship - Multiple scholarships offered. Full applications are due on Friday, May 26, 2023, or June 30, 2023 for the Powell scholarship. Additionally, the Kim & Marion Leonard Mindfulness scholarship accepts applications year round. Full applications must be postmarked by the due date or emailed to morrisa12@upmc.edu by 4 pm. Winners will be notified by June 30, 2023, for careers in healthcare

The Lariat Future Innovators Foundation STEM Scholarship - Pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering and math. Must be from a small town (Everett is eligible) and have a family household income of $55,000 or less.  Deadline June 15

Bedford Fall Foliage Scholarship - March 29 deadline for Guidance office to mail.  Available to Males AND Females.

Brad Blankley Memorial Scholarship - Deadline April 15, student must be attending a trade school

Camp PARC Helping Hand Scholarship - Deadline July 1, must have served as a Junior Counselor, Peer Buddy, etc there for a minimum of 2 years
