Eva Dixon b. 2000 Waratah, Australia; lives and works in London, United Kingdom.

In the studio I am a worker, instructed to respond to the work- asking it questions and bashing it about with a mallet. I think about girl guides, the space race, tradies, miners and truckers in the studio, their intersection is the work- they are communities I am in someways apart of (or wish to be). The materials I use, military textiles, rip-stop nylon, clothing, emergency heat blankets, plastic wrapping, hot-pink carabiners, pad-eye buckles and strapping all originate from functional contexts, are often discarded and are quick to install.  I need to understand how to cut wood joints, to sew, to stretch and install- the work demands it of me. My paintings argue for attention and are an indulgence, a material fetishisation.

Dixon graduated with a BA in fine art from Central Saint Martins in 2023, with the CSM archives collecting her degree show work.
