Ag Mechanics courses are designed to give the students the basic fundamentals and skill in some of the important areas in ag mechanics such as shop management, proper tool selection, and shop safety. This course is designed to give the students more specialized fundamentals in basic ag mechanics, specifically welding and fabrication. After demonstrating consistent use of proper basic shop skills and safety habits, students will be allowed greater selection on shop projects. Advanced students can plan, design, and construct self– determined projects with instructor approval. This pathway provides students with an understanding of manufacturing processes and systems common to careers in welding and related industries. The pathway standards are based on, but not limited to, well established American Welding Society (AWS) EG2.0 Guidelines for the Entry Level Welder. Representative topics include the interpretation and layout of welded and assembled-part prints, cutting, mechanical bonding, joining, cohesive bonding, adhesive bonding, and mechanical fastening. Throughout the year, students can be involved in various field days through FFA, using their skills to compete against other schools. Students can also enter projects in the Yolo County Fair.
