Teachers:
You may sign up for regular library checkout visits (approximately once every two weeks) on the library schedule.
In addition, you may sign up for you and your class to participate in any of the specific one-time lessons listed below. Or, you may suggest a lesson. You are welcome to schedule available 20 minute blocks or full periods for specific one-time lessons.
Possible lessons include the following:
-How to use the library catalog and locate items in the library
-How to search for books by reading level in Mission Library's catalog, and how to look up reading levels of books that you find elsewhere
-How to use Brittanica School, and how to evaluate the various types of resources you find there
-Introduction to Calisphere, a great source for California history
-Introduction to the Digital Public Library of America, a great source for US history
-How to check out and use electronic audiobooks via the Library catalog
-How to use Open eBooks
-How to use free sources of eBooks and eAudiobooks via sources such as gutenberg.org, librivox and BITS English Language Learning
-How to check out eBooks and eAudiobooks from the Escondido Public Library if you have a library card from that library
-How to find read-alikes
-Links to book award sites from Mission Library's homepage
-How to use links to Podcasts from Mission Library's homepage
-How to search for a line in a book online via Google Books and Amazon Booksearch
-How to do more effective internet searches
-How to evaluate internet sources
