Hello Rainbows!

Happy MLK Jr Holiday!  In class we learned about the importance of being kind, brave, and inclusive to others. Check out the super cute "hand picture" I took to show that our skin is all different and different is good!

Valentines Cards

While we don't do a formal "party" for Valentines, we will still celebrate with some fun learning activities and a card exchange on Friday, February 13th.  If your child will be passing out cards on Valentines, please make sure you have at least 22 (23 students total). Also please do not write the names of their classmates in the "To:" section, but only have your child write their own name on each card.  This allows for a much smoother time passing them out.  (Valentines can include just a card, or attached items like a candy, pencil, charm, etc. Students will not eat anything class, but will wait to check food safety with you at home)

100th Day of School

Our big 100th day celebration is occurring on Wednesday, January 28th.  On that day, students may dress like they're 100 years old (optional, but Google and Pinterest are great idea resources).  This year, because it is Eureka School District's 100th Anniversary, all students at Greenhills will be asked to participate.  Kindergarten has a full day of fun activities planned to celebrate this exciting milestone.

Special Homework Assignment - We are also sending home a special 100th-day project (in Wed. folders):

Participation- Please note that both dressing up and the 100-item bag are completely optional. We want this to be a joyful celebration, so if either activity feels like a burden, please feel free to skip them.

We can’t wait to see all our "centenarians" and their creative collections!

New Homework

Homework folders come home today with the new homework format.  The math pages to work on have been written on the side of the page.  Please let me know if you have any questions!   My goal is to send home more things for your child to read.  If it is a bound book, please make sure it returns to school at the end of the week. If it is any paper printed book or page with your child's name on it, you may keep it!   We practiced these in class a few times, but I ask that you read through one or both of them each night.  Repetitive readings are best for gaining fluency. (check out the picture below for an example of a "decodable text" we worked on in class which will go home soon)

Have a colorful week!
