ELOP FAMILY NIGHT! COME JOIN US!

OCTOBER 5 at 5:30 PM, Maidu Elementary School MPR

What is ELOP?
ELOP stands for Extended Learning  Opportunities Program. The state has funded before and after school enrichment opportunities for students TK-6th grade.  EUSD offers ELOP mainly through its partnership with STAR. More information about ELOP can be found at the CDE Website.

Here is EUSD's Board Approved ELOP Plan.

Who can participate in ELOP?

TK-6th ELOP-eligible students can be 1 or more of the following: (1) An English Learner, and/or (2) Socio-Economically Disadvantaged, and/or (3) Homeless or Foster Youth.  ELOP-eligible students are guaranteed access to any ELOP classes the district is offering before and after school, including summer classes.

Where can I find ELOP programs?

EUSD offers ELOP programs at the following school sites: (1) Greenhills Elementary, (2) Maidu Elementary, (3) Oakhills and Ridgeview (shared), and (4) Excelsior Elementary.

To apply for an ELOP class or opportunity, check the subpage HERE.

My child is NOT ELOP-eligible, what do I do if I want to participate?

If your child is not an English Learner or Socioeconomically disadvantaged, your child can still participate through various ways:

(1) Most classes have open seats that remain. Register and get on the waitlist early.
(2) If you feel that your child qualifies, apply for a Free and Reduced Lunch status, even if your child is already receiving free school meals.
(3) If your child is still learning English, and you feel you completed the Home Language Survey (HLS) in error, contact gmyers@eurekausd.org to review your HLS answers.

What is an English Learner? Socioeconomically disadvantaged?

ELL is an acronym for English language learners. The term refers to individuals who have limited proficiency in the English language and includes children and adults of all ages. English language learners live all across the globe, but this article focuses primarily on K-12 ELL students living in the United States. EUSD identifies ELs via a two-step process: (1) HLS answers from parents and (2) Student's performance on the initial ELPAC.

SED students are those who applied and qualified for Free and Reduced Lunch.  Apply HERE.  These applications expire so ensure that your application is in good status to keep access to ELOP.  Apply HERE.
