Course: Power & Human Rights 

In this class, students will learn about government and human rights. Students will first learn about the US Government, and explore how it compares to other governments around the world. Students will then take the time to learn what human rights are and examine if/how they are protected. We will examine well known human rights violations such as the Holocaust, the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II, and other various events throughout the 19th and 20th century. To conclude the year, students will explore how people have fought back against injustice and worked to achieve rights, such as the Civil Rights Movement and the Suffrage Movement. The overarching goal of the class is for students to learn about these important events, and connect them to their own lives and current events.
