Billie A. Barger was born in Bristol, VA and he served in the United States Air Force.
In September 1958, Billie, who was then working for the Federal Home Loan Bank System as an examiner, was transferred to a sub-regional office in St. Petersburg, FL. Billie worked for Home Federal Savings and Loan Association of St. Petersburg and when a branch was opened in Seminole, Billie moved to the Seminole office and was instrumental in the development of the Seminole area in the late 1960s and 1970s by assisting of the issuance mortgages to many new home builders in the area along with another Mr. Seminole, Russell Stewart.
After Billie retired, in 1985, he was one of a group of local business people in the area that saw a need for a locally operated and controlled community bank. Billie became the first President of Seminole Federal Savings Bank that was later named Seminole Bank. After that community bank was sold, in 1999, Billie was one of the directors of a new local bank, First Home Bank. He remained on that bank board of directors for many years.
Billie was a member of the Greater Seminole Area Chamber of Commerce, serving several terms as director and as president. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Seminole for many years and later was a member of the Rotary Club of Seminole Lake. Billie was very involved in the Boy Scouts of America.
