So, what is PLTW and STEM?
Through our Project Lead The Way STEM programs, students develop in-demand, transportable skills – such as problem solving, critical and creative thinking, collaboration, and communication – that they will use both in school and for the rest of their lives, on any career path they take. As PLTW students progress through grades K-12, they are empowered to explore career paths, engage in problem solving and process thinking, develop technical knowledge and skills, and build communication skills.

At Eastampton Community School we are proud to offer both the Launch program to our K-5 students and the Gateway to Technology program to our 6-8th grade students. All of our students have the opportunity to take part in PLTW’s hands-on engaging curriculum which allows students to ignite imagination and innovation through learning.

EXPECTATIONS:
For grades 4-5: We will be working in the STEM classroom on all sorts of fun challenges. These challenges will allow you to learn some essential tools used by real engineers! Each week will give us the opportunity to explore the 4 aspects of STEM as we focus on the integration of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. We will use "outside of the box" thinking strategies and apply them to come up with solutions to real life problems developed by our PLTW: Project lead the way curriculum! We will also use google classroom, docs and slides for assignments and group projects. Welcome to the future... and may the forces of Stem..be with you!...... after all... This is the way....
For grades 6-8: For each course, all work will be posted on our google classroom page. Digital Engineering notebooks are a major part of your grade, as you will be keeping a log of your course work, projects, sketches, ideas, design solutions, matrixes and project links. Teamwork, iteration, cooperation and following the Design Process are essential parts of engineering, and an integral part of our classes. I look forward to seeing what you and your teams can and will create in 6th: Flight and Space, 7th: Design and Modeling, and 8th: Automation and Robotics!
