A: Skier Responsibility Code - A MUST READ!
Q: Does my child need a helmet?
A: Absolutely! They are mandatory. No helmet...no skiing or boarding - no exceptions!
Q: Does my child need their own equipment?
A: No. Rentals can be purchased with any option above. However, please consider leasing for the season through a local ski shop. This eliminates standing in line for rentals at Ski Roundtop thus allowing you to hit the slopes much quicker.
Q: Does my child need a bag to transport equipment?
A: Yes. So everyone's equipment is organized and protected during transportation, they are mandatory!
Q: If my child has their own equipment, how do they bring it to school?
A: The student should be brought to school with their equipment in an appropriate equipment bag. Equipment will be stored in Mr. Houseknecht's classroom until departure. Equipment should not be transported to school on the bus in the morning. Equipment can also be dropped off in the MS office prior to 3:00.
Q: How is my child transported to Ski Roundtop?
A: All students will meet in Mr. Houseknecht’s classroom after school where they will be supervised by adult chaperones. The club will depart for Ski Roundtop @ 3:15 PM via school bus and return promptly by 10:00 PM.
Q: Will students be chaperoned on all trips?
A: Yes. Per district policy, there is 1 chaperone for every 10 students. Please note that chaperones do not necessarily ski with students at all times. Chaperones are required to have all district required clearances.
Q: How are parents informed of cancellations?
A: If inclement weather arises and I feel it is best to postpone the trip, you'll see an announcement at the top of the Club webpage. In addition, I will send an email out ASAP, post a message in Schoology and make announcements via the intercom.
Q: What if my child gets injured?
A: Parents will be contacted after Roundtop's medical personnel have evaluated the student. In the event of a serious injury, the student will be transported to the nearest hospital.
