What is TEDxETHS Youth?
The TEDxETHS Youth event is a celebration of student voice and the "ideas worth spreading" that are born right here in our community. As an independently organized TEDx event, we are proud to be guided by the principles of the renowned TED organization, bringing a local focus to a global movement.
Each year, over 300 students at Evanston Township High School (ETHS) craft TED Talks as part of their coursework in subjects ranging from history and biology to English and Earth Science. To date, over 1,600 students have recorded their talks on a stage in the school’s Little Theater. From the hundreds of annual presentations, we have invited a select few to share their talks with our community on the larger TEDx Stage.
These talks are guided by the TED-Ed Student Talks curriculum, which encourages students to explore their own identities, how their experiences have shaped their perspectives, and how to develop novel, researched-supported ideas. From this extensive pool of talks, a select group of five to six students are chosen to share their powerful messages on our TEDx stage.
