Course 1: Individual and Dual Sports
Students will participate and demonstrate knowledge of movement patterns, simple to complex, in aquatics, rhythms/dance and individual and dual activities. Health related fitness will be highlighted throughout the year.
Course 2: Team Sports
Students will participate and demonstrate knowledge of combative, gymnastics/tumbling, and team activities. Health related fitness will be highlighted throughout the year.
Course 3: Weight Training/Fitness & Dual and Individual Activities
An elective class offered by the PE department. Students will explore a variety of advanced fitness and health activities. Working on lifelong health and fitness skills, each student will build upon techniques and knowledge learned in their course 1 and course 2 PE classes. The teacher will provide a positive learning experience so students can develop a healthy, active lifestyle.

Grades will be earned by the student based on the following:
- Effort and participation
- Practicing and improving on skills, activities and performances
- Personal responsibility
- Written assignments, projects, written/oral tests and skills tests
- Teacher, peer and self evaluations
- Meeting the State PE Standards.
The state of California requires all students to pass PE Course 1 and Course 2 (20 credits) in order to earn a high school diploma.
Fitnessgram is the State physical education test we are required to give every spring. A student must pass 5 of the 6 components on the test.
If you are unable to participate fully because of a medical reason, you need to talk to your teacher to find out what modifications and make up work is needed.
In addition, you are required to provide the following:
A medical release note from a doctor that:
-has a start and end date.
-lists acceptable alternative activities for physical education to be able to assess.
