Math Acceleration
In order for students to advance to higher math levels, Silver Creek High School requires transcripts in order to verify that the student has successfully completed previous math levels at an A-G approved organization. Outside math courses will not be added to the Silver Creek High School transcript. The student/parent needs to provide us with an official transcript at least two weeks before the first day of school in order to make the appropriate changes to a student's schedule.
An official transcript means that it needs to be in a sealed envelope from the outside high school program and turned into the office at Silver Creek or emailed directly to the counselor from the outside high school program.
It is very important to note that if you are using an outside high school program to accelerate, that it is a UC (A-G) approved program in order for your student to self-report the math courses for A-G eligibility on their future college applications. You can utilize the UC Course List to confirm/view which schools/programs are UC (A-G) approved.
The Geometry requirement cannot be omitted or validated by a higher level math course. The UC Handbook (p. 19-20) notes that the Geometry component is needed in order to meet A-G eligibility within the Math subject requirement.
