Edition #3 | October, 2026

September was a busy and exciting month at Silver Creek! From student activities, athletics, and performances to family engagement and classroom learning, our Raiders continued to learn, connect, and show their Raider Pride.

Thank you to our families for being such an important part of our school community. We’re proud of all our students are accomplishing and look forward to an even stronger October!

Senior graduation letters have been sent home, and all seniors have been informed of their current graduation status. If you do not receive the letter, please email the counselor.

This week, our counselors will meet 1:1 with each senior for a quick graduation check-in. Students may be asked to briefly step out of class to meet with their counselor. Thank you for supporting these important conversations!

For seniors who are behind in credits, Edgenuity credit recovery has also begun. In addition to their regular in-person classes, these students are completing recovery courses to help them stay on track for graduation.

Welcome Coach Mario

We are excited to welcome Mario Guzman, SC’s very own cheerleading coach and alumnus, to our campus safety team. Coach Mario brings a strong connection to our school community, and we are fortunate to have him supporting our students and staff in this new role.

Being A Raider by Following the CREEK Way

CREEK Cash

Starting this month, all teachers will receive a designated amount of CREEK Cash cards to recognize students for demonstrating our Raider values:

Creative
Respectful
Equitable
Engaged
Kind

Raider Trading Post

Students will be able to trade CREEK cash for items at the Raider Trading Post, which will be set up on Thursdays and Fridays outside of the attendance office. Listen to the announcements for further information about when we go live with the Raider Trading Post.

RESPECT and Participation at Silver Creek

At Silver Creek, we believe RESPECT means honoring commitments and giving our best effort to the things that matter. Students need to be actively engaged in our school community to build positive relationships, receive support, and demonstrate their full potential.

To support these expectations, students who have behavioral incidents (including suspensions), excessive tardies, and/or unexcused absences may be placed on the Loss of Privilege List.

Students on this list may not participate in extracurricular activities for a designated period of time. This may include:

School dances and Homecoming
Sports and athletic competitions
Club events and activities
Other school-sponsored extracurricular events

For student-athletes, loss of privilege may also include not participating in athletic competitions.

The purpose of this intervention is to help students improve attendance, develop strong habits, and meet behavioral expectations while supporting their success in the classroom. It is not intended simply to prevent students from participating in activities they value.

Returning to Full Participation

Students may regain full participation by:

Completing any assigned interventions; and
Demonstrating improvement in attendance and/or behavior.

When appropriate, administration may also consider documented extenuating circumstances and approved accommodations when determining whether a loss of participation is appropriate.

Our goal is to partner with students and families to help students make positive choices, strengthen their habits, and participate fully in all aspects of the Silver Creek community.

This information helps them plan and improve the school experience for students. The Panorama survey is a tool we use to measure student, staff, and community perceptions on equity and inclusion at our schools and gauge the social-emotional and academic strengths and needs of our students, staff, and community. Latino Parent Coalition

The Latino Parent Coalition is a group focusing on the empowerment and support of Latinx students at Silver Creek High School. Our second meeting ocurred on September 18th, 2026. We had many parents show up and learn from our head counselor (Ms. Ruby Chavez) about A-G, GPA, and how to support your students in being ready for college. Below are the slides presented with the team.

Thank you to all the participants that attended our first Latino Parent Coalition last Friday.

Please join the next PTSA Beautification Day on October 10th, 9 AM - 12 PM. Your participation helps keep our campus clean and beautiful.

The date for Culture Fest has been changed to Saturday, November 14th. We look forward to seeing you there.

Saturday Learning Lounge

Students can recover one day of absence and improve their attendance record by attending the full Saturday School session. Students may also use this time to complete schoolwork, catch up on assignments, and/or perform community service on school grounds.

September Snapshots

Nineteen students from our Business Innovation & Entrepreneurship Pathway gave up part of their Fall Break to participate in a virtual mentoring session with nearly 20 business and technical professionals from Ancestry.com, arranged through our NFTE partnership.

Students participated in speed networking, shared their career aspirations, and pitched their business ideas while receiving feedback from industry professionals.

They spoke with confidence about their goals, presented ideas addressing meaningful problems, and welcomed feedback with genuine openness.

As part of Attendance Awareness Month, students were treated to a little something sweet! We’re celebrating the importance of showing up, staying engaged, and making every school day count.

Mental Health and Wellness partnered with the Youth Advisory Board to host Furry Friend

Our students had the chance to meet, pet, and spend some time with these adorable pets.

Back to School Night

A heartfelt thank you to all of our Raider families who joined us this evening! Your presence and support mean so much to our school community.

We hope you enjoyed connecting with our staff, counselors, social workers, Community Resource Technician, ASB, and Death Valley Club, and learning more about the many ways we support our students.

A special shout-out to our Performing Arts Department and our talented students for sharing their amazing performances and showcasing their Raider Pride! 🎶

Most importantly, thank you for partnering with us! Your involvement, questions, and conversations help us work together to ensure our students feel supported, connected, and set up for success.

Our Champion Cheers team brought on the Raider Spirits with the honorary addition of youth cheerleaders and maybe future Creek members.

Athletics

Our next home football game is on Thursday, October 8th. Additionally, senior night is on Friday, October 30th. We look forward to seeing you!

In an effort to ensure our sporting activities remain safe and in alignment with school policies, no backpacks will be allowed.

Snack Shack Payment Update

To help streamline the transaction process, the Snack Shack will now accept credit and debit cards only.
