Key Concepts are the big four that we will be looking at to guide us into a unit of study.
Communication is the exchange or transfer of signals, facts, ideas and symbols. It is also something that happens between at least 2 parties. With that in mind, when we think about communication, we have to think about the messenger and receiver, and how we see intention, effectiveness and craft.
Connections are links, bonds and relationships among people, objects, organisms or ideas. These are also not limited to the here and now and should be looked at across time and space (usually like distance, not outer space). When we read a writer's work, we connect with each other in a strange way. Sometimes we respond, whether physically or mentally, and another connection is made. Words can lead to action.
Creativity is the process of generating novel (new, unusual, or different) ideas and considering existing ideas from new perspectives. In our world, it's about putting new things together from your life, the world around you, and, of course, the classroom. While the assignments you do are intended to be the material you create from, it is about considering how these exercises may inspire creation and creativity in other areas as well.
Perspective is the position from which we observe situations, objects, facts, ideas and opinions. Perspective may be associated with individuals, groups, cultures or disciplines. Different perspectives often lead to multiple representations and interpretations. This, first and foremost, begins with you and understanding who you are and why you see the world the way you do. It is also to allow ourselves to sit with our own thoughts and reactions and to consider what the ideas of another look like to the best of our ability.
