Mental Health & Wellness Center

Mission Statement

Mental Health & Wellness Social Workers foster communities that are equitable, collaborative, and inclusive of diversity. Students are empowered to achieve academic, personal and social success through healing-centered, social emotional and wellness support services.

Calero's Mental Health & Wellness Program

The Mental Health & Wellness Center is managed by Calero’s Social Worker, Ms. Hillary Pleasants, LCSW, PPSC. Ms. Pleasants, along with supporting staff, offer a variety of school-based mental health counseling services, wellness support and connection to resources in the community.

Free and confidential counseling is provided on campus in a comfortable setting to all students that need to talk. Please note that all conversations will remain confidential except in instances where a student’s life or someone else’s life is at risk. This includes (but is not limited to) any reports of abuse and suicidal thoughts.

During the initial meeting, Ms. Pleasants will assess the social-emotional needs of each student and make an individualized plan for support. Support may involve on-campus short term counseling (6-8 sessions), group counseling, or a referral to a community based organization if additional support is deemed clinically appropriate.

The Mental Health & Wellness staff work alongside families, administration, and community based organizations to implement strategies that promote student’s overall success.
