Canvas

The Canvas inbox allows you to send a message to ALL of your students in a flash. You can include attachments and video or audio message without ever having to know an email address! It's awesome.

The Calendar allows you to set events, create assignments, and post appointment sign ups all from one spot! You change your mind.. and drag and drop an event and it changes for all of your students in a beat!

Do you need to remind your students of an upcoming task, remind them of spirit dress up days, or just touch base? Blast an announcement! You can allow commenting by students or not - up to you:)

Modules Modules Modules!! Modules are the building blocks of Canvas. Build your modules based on week, unit, or task type. Organize your content in a way that's meaningful to students.

Add assignments to your modules. Have students write, solve, create, and act their way right through a Canvas assignment. Students submit in ONE place, and in turn, teachers can grade in ONE place. Lifesaver!

Use discussions to cover hot topics, share reviews, display art work/projects, or have kids share thoughts via video. Discussions allow everyone to see everyone else's submission. Teachers can participate too!

Use Canvas Quizzes as guided notes, a worksheet substitution, or for assessment. Anytime you want QUESTION... ANSWER format use Canvas Quizzes... and it'll grade the majority of it for you!

New Quizzes has expanded question types including categorization, hot spot, and ordering. Current shortcomings include:

1. Old quiz banks don't easily transfer (yet)

2. Matching Qs are graded ALL or NOTHING.

Pages can be used to deliver content, as a collaboration space, for everyone or as your HOME PAGE.

Rubrics serve as guidance to students, as a tool in speedgrader, and make grading FAST!

Use Speedgrader to grade all of your student work in one spot! Annotate, comment, and/or leave audio & video messages. Rubrics also appear to quickly provide detailed feedback for students.

The gradebook in Canvas allows you to see, sort, and edit grades. You can "message students who" and export grades to your SIS all from the Canvas gradebook!
