Exemption from Instruction (Opting-Out)
According to Oregon Law (OAR Rule 581-022-1440), parents can opt their children out of any or all sexuality education components. However, parents cannot opt their children out of the entire health curriculum without written documentation of a religious or disability-related reason.
After previewing materials, if a parent/guardian would like to excuse their child from instruction, please refer to the comprehensive sex education plan, page 62, for an opt-out form that needs to be sent to the student's school Principal before the date of the taught lesson(s).
Below is the adopted health curriculum K-12, if you have any questions about access and preview, please contact Jennifer Behrman at behrmanj@estacada.k12.or.us.
Here is a month by month break down of the health lessons being taught using The Great Body Shop Curriculum. Some changes may accure throughout the year. At the start of the year a family letter will be sent home with information on setting up a family portal for access to the materials.
This will meet the standards for Bullying Prevention and Child Protection.
