WELCOME ABOARD!
Dear Colleagues ,
I am pleased to share a video that features real experiences and reflections from several of our colleagues who attended our first practical session in MAEPS Serdang . Their stories serve as a powerful reminder of how critical Safe Driving is-NOT ONLY during work-related travel, BUT in our daily lives.
A gentle reminder- For those in other regions ( Kemaman/ Miri/Labuan/Pengerang) , the practical Safe Driving session is coming up this September. We look forward to your active participation. More details will be shared in due course.
Let's continue to look out for one another- ON and OFF the road!
Drive Safe . Own Safety
Dear Colleagues ,
HSE Recognition Program for Essem Group began in May 2020 when we first embarked our journey to improve our HSE Cultures. From policies down to procedures, we are making significant improvement. HOWEVER , it's common that when we receive alerts, we don't seem to take notice because "it didn't happen to me" or "it won't happen to me" and therefore we accepting the risk. That's where the safety recognition program plays a key role , encouraging open communication about potential hazards and risks surrounding them and to come up with an agreed action plan to eliminate or reduce them.
On this note , we are pleased to announce that Mohd Shahir bin Haron , Senior Technical Executive from Essem Corporation has been selected as Safety Hero for 2024 under the Essem Group's Safety Recognition Program!
Shahir has demonstrated exceptional commitment to safety , going above and beyond in ensuring safety compliances , taking timely action, and actively contributing to a safer work environment. His leadership and proactive approach reflect our "Own Safety" motto.
This annual recognition highlights individuals who set the standard for safety excellence. We also take this opportunity to once again recognize Mohd Nur Shahrizad bin Mahmud of Matco Services Sdn Bhd , our Safety Hero for 2023 , whose contributions to workplace safety laid a strong foundation for this program's success.
Kindly watch the video to learn more about Shahir's outstanding contributions and on behalf of Mr Fuzz Sufian and HSE Team, please join us in congratulating Mohd Shahir bin Haron for this well-deserved recognition! TAKE CARE & BE SAFE EVERYONE and LET SEE WHO WILL BE THE WINNER FOR 2025!
"Assalamualaikum , and Hi Everyone!!"
Wan Zuwairi bin Wan Mamat
Head – Group HSE
Essem Group is committed to the safety of our employees and we want all of you to return safely to your families after work.
To demonstrate this commitment, we had successfully conducted Risk Management Campaign across all regions as part of quarterly HSE Programs we set this year. Our goal is to ensure that our operations are safe and our employees are not getting hurt.
Effective Risk Management involves the identification of hazards , the assessment of risks and the right application of barriers or control measures to prevent unscheduled events and reduce their impacts.
As a diverse company which operates multiple sets of business activities , we face risks in our day-to-day operations that if left unattended and uncontrolled, could have led to a catastrophic result. It is imperative that we develop a culture throughout our organization that is built around risk awareness and effective risk management. in short, we all need to work to identify what the worst thing could happen, what can hurt us and how we can prevent them from happening.
At Essem Group, we are developing a culture of personal engagement and empowerment. We ask everyone to play an active role in identifying hazards and controlling the risks in your respective work areas and processes. Working together , we can eliminate much of the risks that we face in our daily operations and help to ensure that we all make it home safely to our families. The implementation of common standards, tools and methodologies will also allow us to better evaluate the risks to our processes and improve the way we conduct our business.
"We are all responsible for our personal safety and the wellbeing of others. Only YOU can make the changes to your working behaviors that will reduce the risk of you and your co-workers from being hurt"
I am asking you to take the time and have the courage to prevent injuries in your workplace by taking a leadership role to proactively identify and manage the risks around us.
Working as team, we will achieve our goals and create a safe working environment ....Thank you so much to everyone ( clients , colleagues, contractors) for the relentless support to HSE Team and our hope is that everyone could benefit out from these sessions.
Remember to OWN SAFETY!!
Plastic pollution is one of the biggest environmental challenges of our time, with statistics showing that there will be more plastic in the oceans than fish by 2050.
However, it is now clear that this convenience has had a catastrophic impact on the environment.
The low cost, convenience and lightness of these products have revolutionized the packaging of goods.
Whether it is a bottled soft drink, a bag from the supermarket, or a spoon in a coffee shop, single-use plastic has become embedded in our daily lives.
To change the future, we each need to play our part.
Congratulations to the winners : MALE : 1) Ahmad Suhaili Bin Naim (64.45% - ESCORP)
2) Hairil Yusoff ( 62.25%s - MATCO KL)
FEMALE : 1) Maizatul Akma Ahmad ( 75.05% - MATCO KL)
2) Suliza Yaakob ( 73.10% - KISSB MIRI)
Reflecting on the competition, Dr Mohamad Hafiz , Medical Advisor from Klinik Utama Kota Damansara said : "It is important to know your body's limitations . If you are planning for a diet or lifestyle changes, do not over-exert yourself and consult a dietitian who is able to advise and support you in achieving your goals. Congratulations to all losers & all participants! "
Essem Group envisions for our staff to "Own their Development" and have embarked on the e-Latih learning platform with HRD Corp to drive this initiative.
