SUNY ESF Department of Forest Properties
Use of College Forests and Field Stations
ESF welcomes students, faculty, staff, and researchers to use the forests and field stations. Non-ESF affiliated users may be permitted to use the forests and field stations in accordance with SUNY Policy #5603.
ESF students, faculty, and staff who would like to request the use of an ESF forest property or field station should fill out the “Property Use Form for ESF Users”. This form is designed to be used for activities such as teaching, ESF club-sponsored events, department meetings, and research projects* such as capstone projects, thesis research, and independent study projects. If the meeting or event is not sponsored by SUNY ESF, do not fill out this form.
Individuals or groups who are not affiliated with SUNY ESF, or whose meeting or event is not sponsored by SUNY ESF should fill out the “Property Use Application for Non-ESF Users”. This form is designed to be used for activities such as K-12 field trips, training events, chapter meetings, workshops that are not sponsored by SUNY ESF, and research projects* for researchers who do not work or attend SUNY ESF. Non-ESF users may also be required to obtain a temporary revocable permit and provide proof of insurance. A property manager will contact you if this will be required.
*Research Projects- All researchers, regardless of their affiliation with SUNY ESF, will be required to fill out a “Research Use Form” once their research project has been approved by the Director of Forest Properties. This form should not be filled out until your Property Use Application has been filled out and your project has been approved.
