In 2018, the district adopted new math curriculum for the 2018-2019 school year. This was in response to a perceived need for stronger math instruction across the district. By the end of the 2018-2019 school year, district teachers will have participated in over 1650 hours of professional development in order to support their growth as math teachers. Teachers in the district have also created a website to help support parents in the transition to Eureka, the new math series. The website can be found here.
At the October school board meeting, the Spring and Fall NWEA MAP data is released. Keeneyville 20 has been using the NWEA MAP assessment since the winter of 2012. As Illinois has moved from the ISAT to the PARCC and as the PARCC format has changed, NWEA MAP has given the district a tool to continually measure our progress. The district pushes to grow faster than the national average and by the time students are in the middle school, their growth accelerates. The average Spring Wood eighth grader starts eighth grade a year ahead of his or her national peers. They end the year even higher than the national average in both reading and math.
Keeneyville was recognized as a Google Reference District because of the work teachers and students have done as they integrated 1:1 technology into their school day. There are only two elementary Reference Districts in northern Illinois. We are thrilled to be among the select group!
