Hello, community! Prior to working with ESD 112 and WHS, the bulk of my professional experience has been direct practice with youth in clinical social work settings. I have previously worked with houseless youth in Portland's Homeless Youth Continuum in crisis shelter and transitional housing, and I have also worked with young people in foster care and juvenile justice in case management and therapeutic counselor roles. My passion and focus in my work is collaborating with and supporting youth in a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and restorative manner to ensure that young people feel empowered, heard, and well informed to make healthy decisions.
I graduated from Portland State University with a Bachelor's in Social Work and minor degree in Black Studies and I still currently reside in the city of Portland. Outside of work I enjoy listening/writing music, travel (pre-COVID of course), and trying different foods!
"According to various interpretations, Mayan people conceived the universe as a great unity where everything is related. The individuals, the community, the plants, the animals, the winds, and the spirits are united and nothing exists without the relationship to the other; everything is alive and everything is connected. That is why any action of one affects the other and that is why it is said that you are my other self. If I respect you, I’m respecting myself, and if I attack you, I’m attacking myself."
