Stanford is a prestigious university located 35 miles south of San Francisco and 20 miles north of San Jose. It is in the heart of Northern California, Silicon Valley. The acceptance rate in this university is about 4,3%. Half of the applicants accepted to Stanford have an SAT score between 1440 and 1570 or an ACT score of 32 and 35. Admission officials consider a student's GPA a fundamental academic factor, besides their applicant's high school class rank and letters of recommendation. Stanford University has around 36 different sports that its students can practice and has won approximately 128 NCAA team championships. In addition, Stanford students and alumni have won at least 296 Olympic medals, 150 being gold medals.
