Questions and Answers

Here, we will list questions and answers from either the Supervisory Network or Submitted from the above link

Response:

I understand the questions that have come with this legislative change. I don’t have any information I can share at this time.  There will be further communication regarding the changes released soon.

UPDATE: It's important to note that these changes do not affect programs with 1-3 star ratings. Additionally, 4-5 star-rated programs will remain unaffected for an entire year. However, the new standards will apply to new programs seeking a star-rating or existing programs looking to improve their rating after October 3, 2023.  For further information:  SUTQ letter 170

Response:

With the new ELDS no longer having Age Anchors, ECTA resources can accompany the use of the ELDS in addition to the curriculum being used within the program to determine age-appropriate developmental skills. One might also make the connection to Age Anchoring with developmental functional skills that we use for determining COS ratings.

ECTA Center: Child Outcomes: Child Development Resources

For example, the PLOP might reference the ELDS indicator and then cite the age-anchoring assessment such as the TSGold for corollary age referent.

Referencing the specific age anchoring tool is not required for compliance, but it does make sense to include it since this information makes the specific age level expectation clear to the parent and the rest of the IEP team.

Response:

The alignment of each edition is dependent upon the specific curriculum. DCY recommends if you are using a previous edition to reach out to them for support in determining if your edition aligns.

If ELA used for Comprehensive assessment, the district would need to complete the full ELA minus the Fine Arts learning progressions.
