In this entry-level course, Nursing Assistants can gain the knowledge, skills, and competencies essential to providing basic care to residents of long-term care facilities and hospitals where basic bedside nursing care is needed. The course topics include resident rights and safety, reporting, observation, effective communication, effective interaction with healthcare team, assisting residents in maintaining basic comfort and personal care.

Clinicals: scrubs, shoes & watch (with second hand) required when clinicals begin
Picture Name Tag - You will be notified in class when pictures will be taken and when Clinicals will begin.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
Provide person-centered basic care to residents of long-term care facilities
Communicate and interact therapeutically with residents and their families with sensitivity to the physical, social, and mental needs of residents.
Assist residents in attaining and maintaining maximum functional independence.
Protect, support and promote the rights of residents.
Provide safety and preventive measures in the care of residents.
Demonstrate skill in observing, reporting and documentations.
Function effectively as a member of the health care team.
Be employed in the demand areas of long-term care and acute care.
