Data-Rich, Decision-Ready: Using Behavioral Progress Monitoring Data to Drive Student Impact
Presenters:
Stacy Morgan, Co-founder, Emergent Tree Education
Rachel Ulmer, Special Education Coordinator, New Braunfels ISD
Christina Patrin, Director of Coaching, Emergent Tree Education
Session Description: Many schools are data-rich—but decision-poor—when it comes to student behavior. Teams collect progress monitoring data, but too often struggle to translate it into timely, effective action. This session focuses on closing that gap—equipping leaders and teams to turn behavioral data into clear, confident decisions that improve student outcomes.
Participants will learn how to build decision-ready systems where behavior data is not just reviewed, but actively used to guide interventions, adjust supports, and measure impact over time. We’ll explore practical approaches for making data more accessible, actionable, and aligned across teams—so that every data point leads to a next step.
Walk away with strategies to:
- Strengthen the link between behavior data and intervention decisions
- Establish clear decision rules for teams at all tiers
- Increase staff confidence in interpreting progress monitoring data
- Ensure data conversations lead to measurable changes in student outcomes
This session is ideal for district and campus leaders, special education teachers, and support staff who are ready to move beyond collecting data—and start using it to drive meaningful, lasting impact.

Presenter: Robert Higle
Session Description: In today's diverse school community, the ability to build positive and productive relationships in the classroom is essential for success. This session, designed specifically for paraprofessionals and educators, focuses on strengthening interpersonal skills through the use of effective and positive communication strategies.
Participants will explore how these "soft skills" serve as vital personal attributes that facilitate collaboration and help foster a supportive learning environment.
Room: Real/Maverick
Ideal for: Paraprofessionals, Leadership, Inclusive Practices, Sped Teachers
Presenter: Anissa Moore
Session Description: There's a lot of confusion about the difference between an accommodation for a student and the need for a modification, even when it's laid out in the IEP. Which one is needed? Which one is better? How will it be implemented? In this session, participants will be able to compare and contrast instructional and behavioral accommodations with modifications, understand the importance of PRST (presentation, response, setting, and timing), and learn some basic gotta-have tools of the classroom that are effective for many students with special and unique needs.
Room: Bexar and Babies
Ideal for: Inclusive Practices, Paraprofessionals, Evaluation, Sped Teachers, Behavior/SEL
Presenter: Gracee Condor
Session Description: We’ve all been there: staring at a pile of evaluation data—standard scores, clinical observations, and teacher reports—wondering how to distill it all into a single, cohesive statement. Too often, the "Impact Statement" becomes a box to check rather than the heartbeat of the IEP.
In this 2-hour interactive workshop, we will explore the "Golden Thread" that connects a student’s unique disability profile to their specific needs in the general education environment. We will practice "coding" evaluation results to identify the real-world functional and academic barriers a student faces. Participants will leave with a clear framework for writing impact statements that not only satisfy compliance but also naturally dictate the goals, accommodations, and services that follow. Whether you are an SLP, OT, School Psychologist, or Special Educator, this session will help you speak a common language that puts the student’s functional needs front and center.
Room: Kinney/Kerr
