Erika Lowery A veteran educator with 29 years of experience, Erika Lowery has a diverse background spanning middle and high school geography instruction, secondary social studies supervision, and her current role as a Regional Educator for the Institute for Curriculum Services. She received the National Council for Geographic Education Distinguished Teaching Achievement award in 2013 and was selected as the Texas Social Studies Supervisor of the Year in 2022. Lowery's leadership roles include serving as President of TXCSS in 2018 and President of NSSSA (now NSSLA) in 2021, in addition to her service on the 2022 World Geography TEKS revision workgroup. Her contributions to the field have been recognized with the Distinguished Alumnus award from The Florida State University College of Education in 2020 and the TXCSS Billy Sills Distinguished Service in Social Studies award in 2022.

With 26 years of marriage to her loving husband, Chip, she finds joy in her family life. Their daughter is in her last year of the Ph.D. program in International Relations at the University of South Florida. An avid reader and passionate baker, she also shares her home with three beloved (and admittedly spoiled) fur babies.
