In this workshop, attendees will practice techniques Jon and Gary use to get their students to wrestle successfully with primary sources as they build and defend an answer to Question Two: What were they thinking?

You are never too young to hold onto a piece of history! Using primary sources gives elementary students an opportunity to find clues about history. We will explore easy methods to integrate primary sources even if you are short on time, are not sure where to look, or are worried it would be too challenging to students.

Participants will explore content based manipulative resources that provide opportunities for students to make connections in history. These inquiry based activities allow students to explore, share, and ask questions. Participants will receive access to all materials. This session is perfect for teachers at all grade levels that work with Texas History, US History, and US Government.

This free web platform allows students to asynchronously highlight text, ask questions, add comments, make connections to other relevant resources, and engage with their peers. The result is increased engagement with course materials and a greater sense of collaboration and community among students.

Economic Issues: Inflation, Unemployment & Interest Rates
Free Enterprise offers people and nations the promise of prosperity, higher standards of living, and longer life expectancy. However, what about some of the issues of risk that come with the system such as Unemployment and Inflation? What are the criteria for measuring these two issues? Under what conditions do they impair Free Enterprise and how can market forces come to bear to contain such economic situations? The factors that affect both Unemployment and Inflation are discussed in this introductory examination of how an economy can be influenced by market activity and institutions.
