Keynote Session: Actionable Practices for Celebrating Neurodiversity
This keynote invites educators to rethink how we view and support students with diverse needs. Drawing on insights from autistic self-advocates and real classroom examples, we’ll explore how meaningful shifts in language, perspective, and practice can lead to more inclusive and supportive learning environments.
We’ll begin with a guided reflection on the language we use and how it shapes the way students experience support. Together, we’ll define what a strength-based approach truly means and explore practical ways to apply it, even when students are struggling.
Attendees will hear recommendations directly informed by neurodivergent collaborators and see how six core neurodiversity-affirming practices can come to life in real classrooms, where teachers balance diverse needs, academic expectations, and real-world constraints.
To make these ideas actionable, educators will receive visual classroom resources designed to normalize differences and celebrate strengths, helping you embody a true spectrum of support.
