The purpose of an effective use of technology is to improve the academic achievement, academic growth, and digital literacy of all students.
T4PA funds can be used to improve the use of technology to increase academic achievement, academic growth, and digital literacy of all students. Example activities include activities directly related to improving the use of educational technology, providing educators with professional learning tools and resources, providing staff personalized learning opportunities, adapting and sharing high-quality resources that may include online courses and curated digital collections, implementing blended learning strategies, and any other allowable activity, as determined by the state or LEA.
Provide tools, devices, content, and resources
Build technological capacity and infrastructure
Implement strategies to deliver rigorous academic courses and content
Carry out blended learning projects
Provide professional development in the use of technology
Provide students in rural, remote, and underserved areas with resources to take advantage of digital learning experiences
Any other allowable activity, as determined by the TEA
An LEA may not use more than 15% of the portion of funds identified for the effective use of technology content area to purchase technology infrastructure, including the purchase of:
devices, equipment, and software applications to address academic readiness shortfalls;
blended learning technology software and platforms;
digital instructional resources;
initial professional development activities; and
one-time information technology purchases.
Purchases for technology infrastructure may not include significant construction or the renovation of facilities. The remaining 85% of the funds for this content area must be used for professional development in the use of technology and data.
