Steps to showing empathy according to Brown:
Putting yourself in someone else's shoes (Perspective Taking)
Stay out of the judgement zone. Instead, listen.
Recognizing in the other person emotions or feelings you've experienced before.
Verbalizing you recognize that emotion.
