What is included in a Threat Assessment Inquiry?

• Assess and report individuals who make threats of violence or exhibit harmful, threatening, or violent behavior.

• Gathering/analyzing data to determine level of risk and appropriate intervention,

  • Referring a student for mental health assessment ; and

  • Implementing an escalation procedure, if appropriate, based on the team’s assessment, in accordance with district policy, such as:

    • Specific interventions

    • Mental health supports

    • Behavioral supports

    • In-school suspension

    • Out-of-school suspension, or

    • Student’s expulsion or removal to DAEP or JJAEP

*Mental health care services provided to students under 18 must have written parental consent (TEC 37.115(g))
