The vision of the Region One ESC STEM Center of South Texas is to gather like-minded STEM enthusiasts focused on advancing STEM education for an all-day conference dedicated to showcasing the latest STEM instructional practices.

In June 2016, the Inaugural South Texas STEM Summit was hosted at Region One ESC with an audience of 47 educators from all over the region. Now, the 2-day conference is hosted at South Padre Island and is attended by over 300 educators from the region who are interested in learning about TEA's vision for STEM education, innovative STEM practices and strategies for creating opportunities in STEM for all students.

The first day of the STEM Summit features an opening keynote and seminars presented by some of the top STEM practitioners in the State of Texas. The second day offers a guest panel discussion on a hot topic in STEM education, followed by 50-minute breakout sessions presented by educators form around the region who are sharing their exemplar STEM practices. There are at least 15 STEM-focused vendors and organizations on hand at booths stationed around the venue. Finally, there is a variety of special STEM events to keep educators up-to-date on the latest STEM innovations and tools.
