EUREKA SPRINGS COMMUNITY CENTER
The Eureka Springs High School Future Business Leaders of America chapter is dedicated to serving our community and school through projects that bring the greatest good to the greatest number.
Living in Eureka Springs, our chapter gets more opportunities than most to collaborate on projects and hear from experienced business leaders of our community. Our favorite and largest project to date is the ESHS FBLA Thanksgiving Food Drive. This year, we were able to expand our reach and arrange 25 dinner baskets for families in need. This was made possible through the effort of our chapter along with the support of local businesses, such as Mud Street Café and Hart's Family Center. Additionally, we believe that learning from experience is the best way to grow your mind. We often invite speakers to visit our chapter so our members can learn their valuable lessons, soak up their insight, and inquire about their experiences. We have been lucky enough to hear from true entrepreneurs, marketing experts, and FBLA alumni all based in our community. The ESHS Pickleball Tournament is our next step to boosting community morale and making our mark.
The ESHS FBLA pickleball tournament will start at 9:30am, with players going straight into games. Registration for the tournament will be open at three levels, including beginner (up to 2.5), intermediate (2.5-3.0), and advanced (3.0 and up). There are three courts that will be used at all times in a round-robin, open mixed/doubles format. Games are expected to last about 15 minutes but will be played until teams win by two points scoring to 11. Each level will have 6 teams competing for the big win, playing level by level. Winners will receive medals for their victory. If your partner is not present on the day of the event or if there is an odd number of single registrants within the level, then an experienced substitute player will be provided. Score will be kept by the tournament director based on an honor system from our players. We encourage all who attend to purchase drinks and snacks from the community center's vending machines. Additionally, we will be collecting donations for Alzheimer's Arkansas. A representative will be present at the end of the day to collect 100% of the money gathered. The event will end at 3:00 pm., and we will be announcing the raffle winner. The prize will be two Selkirk paddles. Registrants must be present for the drawing to win. Each registrant will receive one ticket for the raffle in a "swag bag" received upon arrival. This is a community collaboration fundraiser with multiple elements that will help our students make it to Arkansas FBLA State Leadership Conference.
The Eureka Springs Community center has become our near and dear partner for the ESHS FBLA Pickleball Tournament. They have been kind enough to allow us the use of their space and time. We will be using the 3 pickleball courts inside the gym. They will also have their regular vending machines which will serve as yet another opportunity to give back to our community. The tournament will not include lunch, so we also encourage attendees to support local business. Carmen's Tacos Food Truck is right next door, Bubba's Barbecue is less than a minute away, and many other local restaurants are scattered throughout town.
