Dual Immersion at RMS

Overview

The Dual Language Immersion program at RMS offers English speaking and Spanish speaking students an exciting, enriching and challenging educational opportunity. All students will learn to read, write, and communicate effectively in Spanish and English while achieving high levels of academic success. Students from South Ranchito Dual Language Academy will continue at RMS with the Dual Immersion Program. At the middle school students will take the following classes in Spanish:


6th Grade: Science and Spanish Language Arts

7th Grade: World History and Spanish Language Arts

8th Grade: U.S. History and Spanish Language Arts


Program Goals

  • Achieve in all academic subjects according to district and state guidelines.

  • Develop fluency in communication and literacy in Spanish and English without compromising either language

  • Cultivate understanding and appreciation of other cultures, inspire self- esteem, and strengthen positive attitudes among students, their families and the community.


Biliteracy Pathway

“This award is designed to reward engagement in pursuit of language skills in two or more languages, to affirm positive attitudes towards multilingualism, and to validate the use of multiple languages for all students.”

This award is provided to 8th graders who meet the criteria.

Pathway to El Rancho High School

Current students in the Dual Immersion Program will be able to continue this pathway as they enter El Rancho High School.

Students will also be able to earn the State Seal of Biliteracy at ERHS.
