Course offerings: Dance I, Dance II, or Ethnic Studies Dance.
Dance I and Ethnic Dance Studies are beginning courses; no experience is required. Everyone is welcome to join!
Dance II, prerequisite Dance I, or with the instructor's approval.
Students focus on learning movement fundamentals through the dance elements of time, space, and energy. Students explore basic dance techniques applicable to various dance genres, including ballet, modern/contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, world dance, and health and wellness. Students work on various choreographies and have opportunities to perform in and out of the classroom.
These courses fulfill the a-g requirement for either Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA), Physical Education (PE), Ethnic Studies, or elective credit.
Participation in dance is required in all dance classes. Performance opportunities outside the classroom are available.
This group of students worked tirelessly, preparing for an end-of-the-year performance at "La Tardeada" hosted by the Spanish Club. These students are taking dance class at El Rancho and/or are part of our Folklorico Club.
