Course Descriptions
Beginning Drama
In this introductory class, students learn the fundamentals of acting and stagecraft. Activities aim to help beginning actors and technical theatre artists improve their speaking skills, collaborate effectively with others, and boost confidence.
Beginning Drama covers:
Stage movement and voice
Developing a character
Fundamentals of set construction and technical theatre
ADVANCED DRAMA
Advanced Drama students assist in the production of two full-length plays throughout the year. In addition, they stage school-wide events, such as a Halloween maze, Lunch bag Theatre, and holiday-themed shows.
Students enrolled in Advanced drama learn about:
Advanced acting techniques
Theatre production
Fundamentals of Directing
International Thespian Society Induction
Drama students have the opportunity to be inducted into the International Thespian Society, an honorary organization for high school and middle school theatre students. The Society’s mission is to honor student achievement in the theatre arts. Students earn induction by participating in an affiliated school’s theatre program and accumulating points based on the quality and quantity of their work in theatre.
