These are some examples of the completely original electronic music my class is making on their laptops from home during COVID-19 instruction. It is amazing that even working remotely from home, the learners are able to compose, create, produce, and publish their own original music made on their laptops. They come up with song ideas and some even use recording equipment to record their own voices and instruments from home into their laptops. All music is created from scratch by learners using the Ableton Live Music production software. With the help and inspiration from the learners, we have even started a record label so those that are willing can publish their music to the entire world through Spotify, Pandora, iTunes, and all other major music streaming services.
The learners are exploring the entire music industry - songwriting, producing, and publishing - process from scratch, many with no background in music! The beauty of the music production software we use is that even if you cannot play the music or an instrument, you can use the software to 'draw' the notes you want played into the individual 'tracks' or instruments you want to mix together to make an entire song. You can choose from thousands of instruments and slowly layer them all together so you are basically a one person band!
It is truly inspiring to see that even in these times, learners still have the passion and work ethic to try and make their aspirations come true. I am truly proud of what they are accomplishing and the amazing music they are producing.
