General Anxiety Disorder

What is GAD?

    • 3-5% of youth
    • early adolescence onset
    • associated with an inability to act in a relaxed or natural way due to self consciousness or mental restraint
    • considered to be moderate to severe if the nature of their worries lead to a diminished quality of life

What does it look like in the classroom?

The following are ideas of what GAD may look like in a classroom. If you are concerned you need to share your concern of the behaviour (and not a diagnosis!) with the school mental health team or the child's parents.
