Every Youth Service Center's Grant consists of 4 core components that must be addressed. The method by which the core components are addressed, and optional components developed, is determined by an ongoing process of assessing needs, identifying strengths and resources, and designing action components that address any gaps in service delivery. The YSC also picks 3 optional components. Below are the components that the TMS YSC implements each year.
Referrals for mental health counselors and assessments
Helps support a relatives raising relatives group
Helps students and families with social and emotional needs
Assist families who need assistance getting health insurance
Referrals for students to get dental services, eye exams/glasses, etc
Help students with learning about proper hygiene
Provides guest speakers on health topics for students and parents
Offers the Girls on the Run program
Provides hands on learning about budgeting and careers for 8th grade through reality store
Hosts a college and career fair
Can provide college visits
Hosts activities for college and career month
Host different educational activities for Red Ribbon Week
Referrals for counseling services and/or treatment
Educational speakers or activities provided for students and/or parents
Host TMS facebook page and website
Offers different family nights throughout the year. Examples of past events: Family YOGA night, Learning how to cook with crockpots!, STEM night, & Murder Mystery Family Night!
Assists in providing basic needs such as clothing, shelter, etc
Hosts a food pantry for families in the EES district
Assists with school supplies
Holiday assistance availabel for those who qualify
Holds transition event to assist 6th graders coming to TMS
Assist with transitions to high school
