The Monopoly Project

Driving Question: How does location determine value or worth?

Project Overview

In business, home ownership, and many other aspects of adult life, the physical space you, your business, or your home occupies will either cost a little or a lot. Similarly, it may cost you a little or a lot to own that physical space.

Why is that?

The Monopoly Project seeks to shed light on that question and invites you to explore the reasons why some places in our neighborhoods, our cities, our nations, and our planet are more expensive places to be... and why we pay the premium prices necessary to enjoy them.

About me

I used to have a very big beard. Little kids would often confuse me with Santa Claus.

Why?

Location! I live and work in Erie, PA, a multiple-season leader in the annual Snowiest City in America challenge. In winter, big beards help keep you warm. This is a picture from just one hour of clearing snow from my sidewalks with my new snowblower.

Ho! Ho! Ho!
