EXAMPLE

#AVIDGiveback - Dec 16, 2017 (3 hours)

AVID Giveback is an event where we make basic needs bags. Each lunch bag contains a PB&J Sandwich, a bag of chips, water, a bag of cookies. We also made personal hygiene bags that contained items like soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, or feminine hygiene products. In addition to this, we also collected clothing.

Homelessness is a problem all over the US. There are many causes: mental illness, job loss, medical illness that uses up a person's savings, and drug addition. Some people don't have the support system to help overcome these problems, and as a result become homeless. How it happened shouldn't matter. All that matters is that a person needs help, and we should offer that help when we can.

City of Pico Rivera Tree Lighting Ceremony - Dec 16, 2017 (4 hours)

During the Tree Lighting Ceremony, we were asked to do various things. I helped with the distribution of hot chocolate and with children in the snow play zone. We also registered and check-in people, assisted in crowd control, and passed out prizes in our city booth.

The purpose of the Tree Lighting Ceremony is to help bring the community together. The more we see our neighbors, the more we see them as our friends. It gives us a chance to share our ideas and meet more of our fellow community members. It also gives us a chance to talk to our elected officials.
