ABOUT

Born and raised on the slopes of the Rocky Mountains in Utah, Alexander Lisman learned to appreciate the pristine surroundings and the quality of light that only the mountains can provide. Mr. Lisman discovered his artistic voice in art through his study of the great masters of the past and the present. For Mr. Lisman, making art is deeply spiritual and represents the human process of self-perfection.

Mr. Lisman completed his BFA in Fine Arts and Art Education at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in 2010, and a Master of Arts in Fine Arts from Regis University in 2018. He loves teaching and is delighted to be working with the students at ERA helping them to find their own voice and develop their own creative style.

Mr. Lisman is very hands on in his teaching, he prefers his students to learn by doing with direct and guided instruction. His classes are structured with critiques, critical analysis, and classroom cooperation on group projects. Mr. Lisman wants each and every student no matter their ability to carry real world art practices and experiences into their lives and eventually into their chosen professions.

Mr. Lisman specializes in sculpture, when not teaching he is pursuing his professional art practice . For him sculpture is the highest of the classical mediums which fully incorporates Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics in its production and completion.

Forged by a sound understanding of technique, Mr. Lisman strives to suggest the positive nature of mankind into his work and adheres to his philosophy that “Men are that they might have Joy.”
