National Honor Society

NHS Purpose

The purpose of this organization shall be to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of secondary schools.

CURRENT PROJECTS

Flags for Veterans - help Rebecca Crockett Chapter (DAR) by marking gravesites of Veterans with flags prior to Veterans Day

Wreaths Across America - help Rebecca Crockett Chapter (DAR) by purchasing and laying wreaths on National Wreaths Across America program in December, and picking up wreaths from Era Cemetery in January.

2023 & 2024 Community Easter Egg Hunt - Held Free Easter Egg Hunt for the community

December 13th, 2025: Era National Honor Society placed wreaths in collaboration with our local DAR Rebecca Crockett chapter to honor graves of Veterans as part of National Wreaths Across America Ceremony. Era NHS purchased enough wreaths for the entire Era cemetery this year.

November 6th, 2025: Era National Honor Society placed flags in Era Cemetery to honor the 86 Veterans buried there. Era NHS has collaborated with our local DAR Rebecca Crockett chapter to mark graves for Veterans Day in preparation for the National Wreaths Across America Ceremony which will be held December 13th at 10 am. Era NHS will be present to help lay wreaths for the Veterans currently identified in our local cemetery. NHS has raised funds to purchase the flags in the cemetery and our president, Mia Branch, presented a check to Carla Bullard for the purchase of wreaths for the event (pictured).

March 29, 2025: Era NHS students built a gaga ball pit for the Era elementary playground.

November 6th, 2024: Era NHS students honored the 86 Veterans in the Era Cemetery by placing flags at their graves in preparation for Veterans Day. NHS students will continue their partnership with the Rebecca Crockett chapter of DARS in further honoring the Veterans in December when we participate in National Wreaths Across America on December 14th.

Made the "Welcome to Era" sign
Made all the street signs in town
Built the gazebo for the Elementary teachers
Painted hornet on side of concession stand
Organized Era alumni basketball games
Painted teacher houses and other smaller projects
Made a new sign and frame to replace the worn out sign in front of the Era fire station.
Replaced the other sign in front of the fire station.
Painted the flag pole in front of the community building.
