In my classroom, I like for the 5th graders to take ownership of their actions in the classroom, and on the campus at large. During the first week of school, we work together to write a "Classroom Contract" that all students and I sign. It outlines the expectations for how we treat ourselves, our classmates & teachers, and others in the school. The 5th graders are frequently reminded that they are the Role Models for all the younger students in the school as they are the oldest students on the elementary campus. You can click below to see each of the contracts the two 5th grade classes wrote this year. While they are both similar, you can also see where each class chose to take their contracts in slightly different directions.
