I am so excited to be teaching 5th grade this year. I was born and raised in the small West Texas town of Guthrie, and I’m proud to bring that small-town spirit into my classroom. I earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in History from Texas Tech University (Wreck ’Em!), and I’ve spent the past 20 years teaching at both the collegiate and secondary levels.
This is my first year teaching 5th grade, and I’m thrilled to begin this new chapter. I have a deep love for learning, and I’m especially passionate about UIL academics—helping students grow and challenge themselves through academic competition is one of my favorite parts of being an educator.
When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my wonderful husband, Charlie, and our two daughters: Mia (17) and Hattie Mae (6). We’re so excited to be part of the Hornet family and look forward to a fantastic year ahead!

Welcome to a New Adventure in Learning!
This year in 5th grade English Language Arts and Social Studies, our classroom will transform into a journey around the world and through time with our theme: “Passport to the Past and New Pages.” Students will receive their own classroom "passport" as we explore exciting historical events and rich literature from a variety of cultures and time periods.
Through reading, writing, and interactive social studies lessons, students will make connections between stories and history, strengthening their comprehension, critical thinking, and global awareness. This theme is designed to make learning meaningful and memorable, all while meeting our academic goals.
I’m thrilled to take this learning journey with your child—and I’m so glad to have you along for the ride!
